Why Rhino?

Rhino is a free form modelling tool that can create complex and fluid geometries with certain key commands.  You can create entire buildings and spaces with the program.  You can develop dynamic geometries and details that you can flatten into 2d drawings for production.

Why Grasshopper?

Grasshopper allows you to develop a more complex design where using Rhino and its plug-ins alone may not suffice.  Grasshopper is a visual scripting software that makes the process of writing a customized script easier to do.  When you are developing a design at irregular points or developing a complex series of parts,  grasshopper can seamlessly build these geometries.  Grasshopper also creates an organized manner in producing parts and pieces for fabrication.

Why Vray?

Vray is a great tool for getting interior and exterior renders done accurately.  Lighting prompts are very effective for interiors.  Vray allows for a good post production work flow for enhancing final renders.  Vray provides an effective interactive rendering mode to see previews of your materials or lighting.  Vray is also in grasshopper and you can now render your definitions!  This is a great time saver when writing a grasshopper definition, you can quickly add materiality, lighting and environment to visual your definition as a rendering.   Vray is also an industry standard at many schools and design firms.

In this comprehensive 2-day class you’ll learn to create and edit accurate free-form 3-D NURBS models. This fast-moving class covers most of Rhino’s functionality, including the most advanced free form commands.

Course Outline

Grasshopper 3d is a visual scripting program that allows users to input data streams into a working canvas to produce complex and elegant geometries. There are several rules and protocols to understand of grasshopper to be able to enter the prompts you need to build your model. This course is intended to break free from the intimidating task of using the grasshopper tool and give an informative course on the best course of action.
